Here is a basic tutorial for SmartComGps a gps software for mobile phones and smartphones equipped with Symbian Os or Windows Mobile Os. It is perfect for mountain biking, trekking, excursions and many other outdoor sports.
You can transform your phone in a perfect gps device, all you need is:

1. A Symbian or Windows mobile phone compatible
2. Gps module
3. SmartComGps sofware

What can I do with SmartComGps?

1. Write a gps track
2. Follow a gps track
3. Make and view waypoints
4. View maps
5. Edit routes
6. Send gps position via sms to another phone

SmartComGps installation

1. Download the software from the author site [SmartComGps ]
2. Follow the installation procedure connecting the phone to a personal computer
3. In the phone main menu you can find now a new icon
4. SmartComGps is in trial version, after 15 days you must buy a license

	Here what you see if you open a track, you can use key * for zoom in and key # for zoom out.
	Use left soft key for entry the options menu. In the image we have an Italian Smartcomgps version, in the English version you will see: Gps Show Map Track Route Follow
	Here is the gps submenu, in this section you can set the gps device functions. >Connect Disconnect Gps device Reset trip Pause trip
	What do you want to see? There are several types of views, maps, compass and satellite. Layout Zoom Show >Map mode Navigation mode Satellite mode
		Maps menu for view the maps you have previously uploaded on the phone, you can create a map using, for example, CompeGpsLand (view bottom article). Select map Dectect map Close map Auto load map Auto rotate map Available map
		In the track menu you can see the track you have previously uploaded on the phone or write a new track using the active track function. Record on Split on autosave Save current track Clear current track Load track Edit track
		Route menu, remeber that a route is a whole of waypoints. Active route Edit route Load routes Save routes Close routes

			The waypoint menu, remember that a waypoint is an exact point with desctiption, for example "country house Ferraguzzo". Add waypoint Edit waypoint Load waypoint Save waypoint Reset waypoint
			Send position menu, send a sms to another phone with your coordinates. Send position Send request Enable auto send Enable requests Show all points Clear from screen
			Setting menu for custom attribute like colors and view type. Route Follow Waypoint DB name Send Setting
				Clicking on a key (for example number 3 in nokia 6630) you can change the view mode. In the top of screen you will see: Speed km/h Average speed Total distance Total time
				This is the satellite view.
				As always, here is a track zommed in.

SmartComGps support oziexplorer, ogf2, plt , wpt.

How to create a SmartComGps map with CompeGpsLand

Here a example fo a CompeGpsLand map for SmartComGps :

1. Using CompeLand, open a map
2. Activate the selection mode
3. Right mouse, new map for the area (or something like that!)
4. Automaticaly save in JPG format and map format (use ozi .map)
5. You have now a jpg and a map file
6. Use ogf2tool.exe and convert in ogf2
7. Edit the map file, open it with a text editor
8. In the first line substitute jpg with ogf2
9. Put the file (.map .ogf2) in the smartphone folder E:\Documents\SmartComGps\map

1. tracks files are in E:\documents\SmartComGps\tracks
2. waypoints files are in E:\documents\SmartComGps\waypoints.
