History of Adobe Reader

A well-reputed company Adobe Systems developed Adobe Reader that became popular among the people due to its utility. This computer program views, creates, manages and manipulates files in a Portable Document Format. This tool allows the viewing and printing of Portable Document Format files. It gives a professional appearance to a document as it presents information in a fixed template. This computer program was first released in the year 1993 and then underwent many revisions for its improvement and advancement.
The company released Acrobat 1.0 in the year 1993. In this version, a user could create a PDF from Post Script. The PDF Writer printer driver was also available. In Acrobat 2.0 version, a user could create search able indexes to PDF files. Next version called Acrobat 3.0 exhibited PDF files in-browser. The updated version also introduced extended forms of capabilities and JavaScript. The Acrobat 4.0 introduced the concept of supporting digital signatures through plug-ins. The Acrobat 5.0 was another updated version that enabled the users to save fill in forms or digitally sign on any piece of document. The Acrobat 6.0 supported the digital signatures without plug-ins. It could also support the process of PDF creation. The new Acrobat 7.0 empowered the user to embed 3D object information in a document. A user could also deploy tools to capture 3D content for effective functioning in the environment of business. Another updated version Acrobat 8.0 equipped a user with a highly compressed format for graphics and geometry. It also facilitated the collaboration and sharing of data among the users. Users can organize web conferencing within an organization. Acrobat 9.0 armed the computer users with synchronized document views and chats while collaborating with the Portable Document Format files. In this latest version, you could customize the templates and layouts of your documents. You could insert flash and video for playback in Adobe Reader. A person could convert a variety of video formats to flash video for playback in Portable Document Format.
This computer program also protects the content of a document from unauthorized viewing, printing, editing or copying. It has changed the way the world ever worked. It has enabled the users to prepare various types of documents like pdf from word to pdf and use different features like animation and much more.

Internet browser works, but I cannot update.?
So here's the run down. My browser works fine, I can download anything, but I can't update certain things or send crash reports. Examples: Adobe Reader cannot download any updates, and whenever VLC crashes I cannot get through to the FTP server to send a report. Also the in program browser for steam works the same way, it claims that it cannot connect to the internet, an error 102. Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated it's driving me batty.

Do you know of a good alternate to Adobe Reader?
I stopped at version 8 because from what I've seen it just gets less stable and more bloated in version 9 and 10.
All I want is the ability to view PDF files, edit fields when that feature is available, and "save as" on occasion. It doesn't even need to be integrated into my web Browser. I just want it to run fast and reliably.
